Virtual Par-tay!!!

The usual apologies for not being as committed to blogging as I ought to be… and you know I oughta be committed! :-) After all this time, the pressure is on to produce a post that was worth the wait… But instead, I’ve decided to bribe you with a way fun gift!

It’s that time of year again… And it’s my pleasure to host our virtual Christmas party! It’s a conversational come-and-go that will last from now ‘til Christmas day. And as a token of my appreciation for your friendship, encouragement and the time you’ve taken to read this blog (or continue checking for a new post!)… one of you will shop online with your...

$50 gift certificate to Christian Book Distributors!!!

Exciting, isn't it!!!

The Fine Print: The comment you make to this post serves as your chance to win! And this time, multiple comments mean multiple chances to win! The party will end at noon on Christmas day and the drawing will take place that afternoon. Winner announced by 5pm .

To start the small talk, I’ll shorthand the last few months just to catch up a bit. Feel free to comment on anything and everything - or in true Seinfeld fashion, nothing!

Boo to You! I hosted a Halloween get-together at my place. We listened to spooky stories about rabid raccoons, hitchhikers and what happens at the morgue and we read The Cremation of Sam McGee!

Downsizing. Finally traded in my gas guzzler! Didn’t go hybrid, but definitely went for better fuel efficiency – opted for a crossover vehicle.

I love me a road trip! Broke in the new ride on an excursion to Atlanta to visit friends Ryan & Amanda Gray (and brand new baby Jaxon) at the Newnan Church of Christ. Also re-connected with Duane Bates, another friend from Lubbock days who now works for Habitat for Humanity. Since he’s in PR, his name out-googles all of ours! (So I thought I may as well drop it here!) Then I met up with more friends to hear Rob Bell speak downtown. Again with the name dropping!

Turkey Day. Prepared Thanksgiving for Three. Had the parentals over for a fun feast!

Confession: I’ve watched every single hokey holiday movie on the Hallmark channel and fa-la-la-la-Lifetime while decorating, shopping online, wrapping gifts and cooking. You’d think I’d tire of the predictable plots, but no.

Incredible Edibles. This will be the first year I attempt to make a gingerbread house. Without eating it.

Latest greatest food finds:

Voortman’s Flaxseed Cookies – delish!  Ever-so-yummy Yogi Teas. They’re incredibly aromatic and flavorful. And glogg - A Scandinavian warm mulled wine for wintry days. Find recipes online or pick up a starter bottle the next time you're in IKEA.

Most significant moment: My dad & I do this thing – trying to one-up each other on who can get in the last word on “I love you.” And the last word is “more!” After a visit one evening he told me he loved me as he was leaving and of course I responded with “I love you more.” He chuckled because he’d been gotten! Then he says, “But really, hon… I love you more than anything.” After just a few seconds he adds, “Well, except for…” and he points to the sky. My heart was full.

Favorite Mama moment: I can’t decide between when she was talking about how nice it would be to have “TeeBo” to record her television shows or when she called to ask if I wanted any “rotisserary” chicken.

My Christmas wish for you:

May your holiday season be filled with the wistful glow of Christmas lights, pockets full of spare change for the Salvation Army bell ringers, music that moves you, some really great conversations dotted with laughs (and even a few tears), intentional time with your God, spinach dip and cocktail weiners and sausage balls and peanut brittle and fudge and peanut butter balls and... Oh, sorry... I sorta lose my train of thought when I get started on food!  And may you get caught underneath the mistletoe!  Wait... that's my wish!

Now it's your turn.  Leave a comment.  Go ahead.  Make my Christmas Day!

Well, since I'm the first one here, let's make a crank call to some of your Mississippi friends to get them over here!

Terri, get off the phone and come play some games. I've got Pass the Pigs and Finish Line here.

Angie, I'm trying to catch as many of those hokey movies as I can, but not making as many as I'd like. I'm hoping for a marathon this weekend, since the hubs will be away. And I *love* that last t-shirt saying! I want one of those. I may just have to design one.

THAT GIRL *would* be the one to suggest prank calls! BTW, you had me at "Sanka, ya dead mon?" I'm a sucker for any "Cool Runnings" reference! Girl, you a trip!

Good luck getting that girl off the phone KAREN! I'm gonna have a huge bill with all that heavy breathing going on! I'm sure you'll catch plenty of Christmas flicks this weekend... They show them over and over again! So get out the kleenex and get lost in sappy land!

JENNI you're welcome anytime! Especially if you have food! Merry Christmas to you too, doll... Thanks for lighting up this place with your smiling words!

I'm sure y'all are the first here because of bloglines... Many thanks for not unsubscribing me during the recent drought! You are definitely keepers in my book and I look forward to catching up on your blog lives!

Terri obviously didn't get very far with the phone calls. Where is everybody else? It's gettin' lonely in the game and hot chocolate corner over here.

Before you come to any conclusions about Jones and Yarhouse's book, I'd encourage you to check out the web site www.beyondexgay.com. It will show you the actual harm and damage that "Religiously Mediated Change in Sexual Orientation" actually did to real people.

I just got back from the gym. My trainer is killing me. I had to stop on my stairs and rest on the way down - then go the rest of the way on my booty. Just give me a bottle of water and let me watch y'all have fun. Maybe I could play a board game if y'all will move the pieces and throw the dice for me!

Angie! Great to see a new post from you! I have you in my reader...I'm just way behind. It's always a joy to read your thoughts.

Now how to bribe you for that gift certificate...hmmm...I'm thinking!

Am I the first one awake this morning? I guess I fell asleep before everyone else last night. I'll try to be quiet for a little while, but if people don't start stirring soon, I'll come over and tickle their feetsies and wake them up. We need to get people vertical to make room on the couches. Ang, are you sure you have enough food to feed us all for the next 4-5 days?

Didn't mean to drop out of sight after greeting the first three to arrive... I sorta hosted another party during this one - one with flesh and blood people! We had dinner together last night. I made a parmesan fondue, a salad with soup (potato, italian sausage & kale), warm bread dipped in oil with toasted garlic and/or balsamic vinagrette and finishing with nutella spread on warm croissants for dessert! Plenty of leftovers for lunch today! I didn't feel bad about leaving you because I know you were well-entertained by KAREN's game corner and the mental image of THAT GIRL scootin' down stairs on her boo-tay!

Now back to the fun folks who have joined us here!

SUSAN, I *knew* you'd make it! I'm very excited to see you too (here and on MySpace). BTW, THAT GIRL's making the prank calls - not me!

DONNA, I can barely find you behind that big ol' trophy! Even Roger might be intimidated by your mad skills! Good idea to invite him... but I hope he doesn't wear those black socks. Anyway, if you need another hug, just call me 'baby' and I'm all over it! :-)

And a big hello to WHERE'S ANGIE - which is an odd thing to call a person, but you give me little to work with here! Thanks for the advice, definitely will do! And loosen up your tie a little... you're at a party! :-) Thanks for coming!

Yes, TCS, you're always in high demand around here... You did such a great job of guest hosting last year. I'm looking forward to having another significant moment today... Can't wait to see you & the fam!

Well now I *know* it's a party: The Blog King has arrived (can you do a "Thank You Very Much" Elvis style, JD?). So very glad you made it, fella! No need to bribe me... you are in it to win it already!

Even GREG came out of the woodwork for this one... a Christmas miracle! And droppin' it like it's hot... I'd like to see that! I'd also like to see you and DONNA play some tennis together until Roger gets here. Maybe you could convince John McEnroe to drop by too, since y'all are tight. Well, you know how to make yourself at home, friend...

Folks, I'll be visiting with the TCS clan awhile today but will join you tonight. Remember to welcome any newcomers and show them around. See you in a bit!

As we turn our hearts toward family and friends during the Christmas holiday, I wanted to let you to know that I am thankful for blessing of many new friends I’ve come to “know” here in blogland. The tie that binds us is our shared love for and devotion to the Savior whose birth we remember during this special time of the year. May your days be full of holiday blessings; and, may your heart be filled with the warmth of His presence.

Blessings,
-bill

I'm taking a blogging break because it hurts my little brain to much to think of stuff... but since we're all here, we COULD play a little Chain Reaction.

Topic: Last minute gift ideas...

First word: umbrella

I was so glas to GET A CARD THIS YEAR!!! I hope your visit today was a good one and that your holiday will be just wonderful. Know that, even though we don't get to visit with much regularity, you're counted among my dearest friends. Here's wishing for snow in Big Creek!

Well, I suppose I'll talk about nothing, because I have no intelligent remarks to add to this conversation. Can we get a game of charades going? Otherwise I'm just going to wander over the the food table and hang out there like I do at in-person parties. The punch doesn't have ginger ale in it, does it?

Another Christmas miracle, I decided to join the party this year! Oh, and Greg, last night when Ang was at our house and we were a bit delirious your name and "baby bootylicious" were used the same conversation. Just thought I'd let you know. Ang, last night was just what I needed to relieve the last-minute Christmas stress. I am enjoying a cup of Peach Detox Yogi Tea with lots of sugar of course and some cookies for breakfast. The kids are at grandma's so I don't have to explain why I can have cookies for breakfast and they can't. I also realized that I almost bought you the same mug for Christmas that you gave me. Did you get it at Barnie's? I'm a little worried about this tea though. The box says "No more than 10 tea bags should be consumed in a day. Because it has no harsh laxatives or diuretics, Peach DeTox is mild enough to be used every day for up to 30 day." So what will happen if I want to consume 11 tea bags or I have the tea every day for 31 days? You really should investigate the safety of your gifts before giving them. It is VERY GOOD though. One more thing: since my comment is extra long can I be entered in the contest multiple times?
